Accessing small business support during unprecedented times

Updated: Jan 15, 2021

This year has brought a range of challenges to the doorstep of small businesses all across the globe. In the UK many businesses are struggling to face these challenges and often don’t know where to turn in a time of crisis to find the support they need.

Research has found that 1 in 3 small businesses are expecting to make staff redundant in the coming months. This is an increase from 1 in 6 when the first study was carried out. Now, more than ever before, businesses are looking for the right places to get support so that they can come out on top.

In this guide, we will take a look at three sources of support to help you and your business recover from these challenging times.

‘SOS’ – Save our SME Campaign

The Save our SME campaign helps small-medium sized enterprises find the business support they need. The campaign has brought together hundreds of professionals from all across the North East to offer support to struggling businesses. There are professionals available from all different backgrounds including; accountancy, marketing, legal, HR, digital transformation and more. Each of these professionals have agreed to deliver their support on an initial pro-bono basis so that business owners can receive an audit and proposal without having to invest any of their capital. Ultimately, the campaign aims to help these businesses get back on their feet without having to risk any further finances.

If you would like to get started, it’s really simple. All the information you need is available on the SOS website and you can also contact the team through the website as well. Find out more on: https://www.saveoursme.co.uk/

ABC Membership

Asian Business Connexions has created a new-look membership for individuals and businesses. The membership brings together like-minded people as part of one-big inclusive community.

As an ABC member you will gain access to a whole host of exclusive resources that will help you to grow your business. On the membership platform there are articles, guides, videos, workshops and more that you can access immediately.

As well as this, you can also join the Facebook group which can be used to network with like-minded individuals, opening up new opportunities to grow your business.

Asian Business Connexions is a not-for-profit enterprise that aims to make the North East the most inclusive region in the UK. The platform will provide you with resources to make your organisation more inclusive which can also have great benefits for supporting the growth of your business.

This is a new launch and to celebrate, ABC is offering the first 50 members their first month free so there’s no risk to trial the platform.

SME CofE Support Hub

The SME Centre of Excellence provides a full range of back office support to help your business start, survive and thrive. The centre covers services such as; digital marketing, funding, accountancy, HR, websites, digital transformation, legal and much more.

The SME CofE support hub is very similar to the Save our SME campaign, however, the service offered is more extensive and tailored to your business so that you can receive the right support, at the right time, for the right price. With this in mind, it’s important to note that the centre will always be available so you can chat to an expert about any issue you’re facing regarding your business. If you are facing challenges, one of our team would be more than happy to have a chat and point you in the right direction.
